Bloomin' marvellous - more to come too

These remind me of my late aunt Markie - so called because when small we couldn't get our tongues around Marguerite! She was one of 5 daughters all named after shrubs or flowers - Daphne, Heather, Marguerite, Viola and Rosemary. They were great amateur botanists and all played tennis at Wimbledon (either in the Seniors or Juniors), represented their county at hockey and 3 of them took up golf later and excelled at that too. Before the war Markie trained to be a teacher then she drove an ambulance in London for the duration. Afterwards she taught in the village school and milked her cows and raised turkeys on the side. She was still going in to listen to children reading well into her 90's. It was an amazing generation and I miss them all
