Any old coins?

M. has been wanting me to use his old coins in a blip for a long time so he reckoned today was his chance when he heard that the Governor of the Bank of England predicted 2.7 per cent rise in inflation.

So out of the drawer came these old half crowns coins, 2/6d or 12.5p in today's currency.

Then they would have bought 8 pints of the best beer in 1970 - last year before decimalisation- today they would buy two packets of crisps.

And eight of these coins equals £1.
