Dantesque

The second evening of our Fête du Terroir ... we started relatively gently with the banda Sal i Pebre on the square. All good clean fun; the wine flowed, and people mingled and chatted, or bopped to the music, while the traiteur arrived and set up his mobile kitchen; soon tempting smells of simmering macaronade were making us all hungry. Eventually we sat down and ate copiously and well, before the banda led us off to the Salle des Fêtes; sadly the main act of the evening had decided not to rely on it staying dry.

The hall was absolutely heaving and as hot as the innermost circles of hell; appropriately enough as the band was Les Diables de la Garrigue. This is basically the same personnel as Goulamas'K, in a different guise. I love the Goulamas guys (see this day last year), so I was looking forward to it. I was disappointed though ... one of the things I like about them is smiley drummer Angel. This evening he was on the sound desk, and the "drums" were a monotonous pounding beat supplied by two guys on computers. It was loud and samey, and since it was so unpleasantly hot I didn't stay long. Photos were ... challenging. Everything was bright red or bright blue, and the reflective body paint created some interesting effects ...

Oh, and yesterday's Dalmatian was there again! I don't think it was a fan either.

There will be a Flickr album of the weird lighting later -- it's not letting me upload anything at the moment. In the meantime there are a few extras.
