La Brigade du Kif

Occitan Ska this evening. After a hot and humid day, it was supposed to be happy hour on the square at 7 pm, but just as the saucissonade had all been prepared and the rosé was being poured, a truly massive black cloud appeared and doused us all in a refreshing cold shower, complete with thunder and lightning. So instead of 200 people there were about 30 ... we all managed to cram into the kitchen currently doing duty as the social club bar, where we were confronted with about 30 kilos of largely carbonised sausage, plus more cold pizza than we could eat.

The decision had already been made to have the concert indoors, so after a short rest we were off to the village hall. La Brigade du Kif are a local Occitan ska band -- have a listen here. Like nearly all popular bands around here, they are 100% male. Good ambiance, lots of dancing, including one wheelchair-bound dancer who kept getting whirled around till he must have been totally dizzy. More photos right from here. My extra may appear to be irrelevant, but it's the mournful Dalmatian the band brought with them. It wandered around all evening looking sad and accepting the odd consolatory caress. Bet it was glad when it was time to go home.
