Visit from a Kereru

My fortnightly Friday off. Took Young L almost to school; he likes to be independent and walk by himself once all the roads are crossed. Just before he turned into the road to the school, I took today’s extra.

After lunch we came north to the beach house. I went looking for a noisy tui, only to be distracted from my search when this big fellow flew into a tree in front of the house. It let me get pretty close, and move around for clearer views and better angles. Kereru (its Maori name) is the native wood pigeon.
