Raft graft

Today was Oban's annual Raft Race and crowds lined the harbour wall ready for the start at 2pm-ish, as the posters stated! Just as well, because as the rafts were ready to go some 20 minutes late, the 'Clansman' was spotted coming into her berth so the start was delayed for another 15 minutes!

The race involved leaving the shoreline, paddling out and around three buoys, and back to the town beach. The very simply designed 'Rafty McRaftface' - see extra - shot ahead and was back some 15 minutes before anyone else. She was crewed by a team from Oban Distillery. Generally the fancier designs did less well, though the raft crewed by four sharks came home early!

A fun afternoon, sponsored by a local chippie and organised by Oban and Lorn Lions Club. Well done all!
