Permanent and Temporary

On our way to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park we detoured slightly to see how the new - temporary - transmitter at Emley Moor was progressing.
Built in 1971, the concrete  Emley Moor mast  - 1,084ft (330m) - is the tallest free-standing building in the whole of the UK.

The new temporary structure is 1,040ft (317m) and will be used to transmit TV signals while work is carried out on the existing transmitter.
