Following Falkirk's defeat in their first home league game last Saturday, it was a trip to Firhill Stadium, the home of Partick Thistle, this week. With Thistle also losing their first game last Saturday, both teams were hoping for a better result this time around.

Alas for the Bairns, Thistle were much the better team for most of the match. Two goals in the first half-hour put them safe and Falkirk's goal in stoppage time at the end of the match was little consolation.

The stand behind the goals at the northern end of the ground is called the John Lambie Stand after the legendary four-time Partick Thistle manager, who also played over 200 times for Falkirk between 1958 and 1969, and who passed away in April this year. The banner (pictured) is an excellent reminder of John Lambie's associations with Partick Thistle FC.
