Clatterin Brig

After our failure on the garden visit yesterday we set out to visit the garden at Fasque House today. We took the route over Cairn O Mount. This road the B974 is sometimes closed in winter due to snow. Today there was no snow, instead it was rather misty so there was no view at the summit.

I listened to the petrol rapidly gurgling away as we made our way up the hill. It was good to make a stop at the Clatterin Brig and make a visit to the restaurant for a snack before proceeding to Fasque House.

The house (photo in the extra) was home to the Gladstone family until the 1930s. The estate bordered the Balmoral estate in the north. The house is now used as a wedding venue. The gardens were open today as part of the Scottish Gardens scheme.
