Murberget - Concert and ironwork

Today we were in town at Murberget, the county museum, to listen to live music on the outdoor stage. It was a concert in support of Mannaminnne, a local museum, an artwork, and the lifetime project of Anders Åberg, a local artist who recently died.  HarlingDarling has written all about this in her Blip.
After the concert we were wandering around the outdoor section of the museum and I came across a collection of replica wind vanes. The originals are stored in the museum, and these copies were created by students of the “Iron Academy”. This academy runs courses (three and a half years long) to train smiths via a state scheme to offer education in areas where there is a shortage of skills. The students creating these wind-vanes will perhaps work repairing cultural artefacts, or create new objects using these old skills and techniques.  Other students may go on to create more modern artworks, such as the almost 2 metres high and very impressive dandelion, created by Lisa Rundberg and shown in the extra.
