Life through the lens...

Endeavour

A blustery day with sunny intervals, and quite warm.
Started with a bus ride to Whitby.
Great view from the top deck, with a very interesting slide show of the places and villages we passed through, along with commentary provided by Arriva Bus Company.

Mr C was looking forward to seeing the replica of Captain Cooks ship, Endeavour.
Yorkshire born Cook began his maritime career in Whitby.
The original ship was built in Whitby.
This replica was built in 1993, and had been based in Stockton-on - Tees. Bought by businessman and ex-Naval officer Andrew Fiddler at auction in 2017 .

Unlike its Australian counterpart the UK replica was never built to sail, and so was towed from Middlesbrough the 40 miles to Whitby.

It is now a floating museum marking the 250th anniversary of Cook’s first expedition to the Pacific.

What a disappointment, for us all.
First impression was it looked like something in a Disney film.
The paint and colour was awful. Not sure what the museum was like as we didn’t pay to go on board and have a look.

Although the town was very busy, we did enjoy our walk round the old town. A coffee and then had the usual bag ( now box) of chips, overlooking the harbour.

Another bus ride back, followed by tea and biscuits. Then relaxing before going to the pub for a meal tonight.

Fingers crossed for the cricket tomorrow.
