R3

After a busy day (including the oats harvest and my mother's birthday dinner), we visited the R3 festival. R3 stands for Raikku Rokkaa ja Rakastaa (Raikku Rocking and Loving). The location is a chicken farm in the village of Raikku in Kangasala.

The star of the festival was Erja Lyytinen (in the main blip), but I was also excited to see Broadcast, a Finnish pop band from my teens who haven't toured much in the last 20 years, but three of its members have had successful solo careers. Unfortunately one of the members had a stroke or something similar earlier in the evening, so their gig was canceled.

Instead of them, the first band we saw when we got there was called Electric Beat Orgy (in the first extra). They were a cover band performing pop hits in beatbox style. They were scheduled to play on the second stage later, but as they took the main stage, the next slot on the second stage was filled by a collaboration of Larry Peninsula, who had performed on the main stage earlier, and Uncle John Duo, who had played on the festival "Broadway" (in the second extra). I was under the impression that they had not played together before, but it seemed that they knew their country / country rock stuff well enough that you really couldn't tell.

In the third extra the presenter Satu Aarnio before Erja Lyytinen's gig.

Erja's gig was great as usual. The stage lights helped make some great shots, although the processing isn't so easy . The main blip is perhaps the best of shot I got. I'll blip another for Saturday as the gig lasted past midnight. Some more on Instagram.
