Huuhkajavuori Blues

After cake and coffee at my parents' to celebrate my mother's birthday, Triinu and I headed to Huuhkajavuori Blues festival in Lavia, about 70 km west. A new event to us, with four bands which were also mostly new to me.

The first band was called Old Union Blues Band (extra #1). They played old blues and rock'n'roll (no surprise there!). Not original material, but they did it well.

Next came Slim Butler & The SlimCuts (extra #2). Their previous albums have been elected blues album of the year in Finland. Good material and very well played.

The third band was Emilia Sisco & Helge Tallqvist Band (extras #3 & #4). Emilia Sisco is a young, talented singer and Helge Tallqvist is an older band leader who plays harmonica. She is not the first young lady in his band. Also Ina Forsman (extra #3 here) started her blues career with him. Another great performance.

Last on stage were Jake's Blues Band with Maria Hänninen (extras #5 & #6). Maria is the only one of the artists I have seen before, so I knew what to expect of her, and she did not disappoint. A great night!

Oh, almost forgot. The main blip is bassist Mikko Löytty of the SlimCuts. The stage lights are tricky, but they also make the shot. Sometimes the difference between fail and success is very small!
