Ellesmere Rangers 0 Wythenshawe Amateurs 4

It has been a disastrous week for Chester. After suffering their worst league defeat since 1952 last Saturday heavy rain the following day caused terrible damage in the main stand. As well as destroying ceiling tiles the rainwater leaked into the electrics and cut off the power. With key systems like the control room and PA room affected they had no choice but to call off the midweek game against Kidderminster and todays game against FC United. It had been hoped to play the Kidderminster game this Tuesday but that is now off as well and we are not sure when the next home game will be played.

As a result I visited one of the new grounds in the North West Counties League where I saw Ellesmere Rangers (in blue), and managed by former Chester player Kevin Sandwith, comfortably beaten by Wythenshawe Amateurs. Ellesmere didn't look very good but I hope they pick up as they had a great clubhouse and served a nice cup of tea and flapjack.
