Moorhens on the pond

Friday
It was a cool wet morning, and after a leisurely breakfast, chatting with Roger’s Dad, we drove down into Stockton Heath to pick up a few things. The rain persisted after lunch, so we stayed in playing Scrabble. About 4 pm we went to help Janet and John set up and decorate the church hall for an afternoon tea tomorrow for family, neighbours and church friends in celebration of Roger’s Dad’s 90th birthday on Wednesday. Besides setting up tables and putting out cutlery and plates and cups and saucers, and putting up decorations, Janet had been busy selecting and printing out photographs from Bernard’s life to go on the various notice boards around the hall. It was fun reliving old memories as we put them up. By the time we had finished, the sun had finally decided to put in an appearance, and so we got out for a short neighbourhood walk before dinner down the road at Janet and John’s. My blip was taken at a little pond just round the back of Janet and John’s house. More family was arriving that evening - Bernard’s youngest brother Barry and his wife Janet were flying in from Guernsey - unfortunately their flight was delayed, so we had our dinner first, then John and Roger went to the airport to pick them up. It had been several years since we had last seen Barry and Janet, so it was great to see them again and start on some catching up!
