Monarch Butterfly* ...

... outside our house in Tamworth, this afternoon. As soon as it landed, I went to my knees to keep the background out-of-focus in the distance; it's great when one's subject cooperates!  Our friends Kate and Tom had just arrived from Maine for their annual visit.  After a lovely dinner, we spent the evening presenting our bird images (they are also birders, and Tom also photographs birds).  Tom and I had a white-breasted nuthatch in the afternoon--I'll post  a collage of my shots as an extra tomorrow.
