Bird(s)

Went out to Levenhall Links with D to see what birds were about - lovely curlew, some very bad-tempered redshank, a smart little snipe and approx a zillion oystercatchers. Walked back to Musselburgh by the sea wall; there were lots of goosander and eider sitting on the beach mid-moult and looking very uncomfortable. I'm told that I spotted a wheatear.

Oh, it was so nice to be out of Edinburgh for a while. I find that I have paraphrased that evocative Joni Mitchell line The hissing of summer lawns  - it's now The trundling of summer suitcases......
