Einbildung

First of all, a very big thanks to all the kind comments on Flash. As many have said, it is important to celebrate his great life and the joy he brought us.
----------------------------------
Yesterday, our electrician Stefan who some may remember from last year's mega re-roofing, PV and complete electrical fuse box renovation, popped by with his (4-year-old?) daughter for a swim and chat. His wife stayed at home, now heavily pregnant and avoiding the heat as much as possible.

Was a lovely few hours and again a distraction. The "shadows" etc are of course with us all the time and perhaps it is "Einbildung" - Imagination - that makes one think other family members are also feeling the same way.

Two-year-old Eddie the Irish cat who came to us as a much too young (perhaps 4 or 5 weeks old) kitten,  had from the word go made Flash his best friend. The last two nights of Flash's life, Eddie had been curled up against Flash's stomach. Since Friday night he simply disappeared and it was not until late Sunday night that we realised he hadn't been around. Luckily, after some calling him, he did appear.

Cindy, today's Blip, is six months older than Flash, came from the same farm and the two of them have grown up like brother and sister. They annoyed each other from time to time but knew they were safe in each other's company. Almost daily they would have a mutual face licking session.

Since Saturday, Cindy really does seem to be searching for Flash. Is it her motherly instinct as she is the senior house pet and has always had the trousers on? In the Blip, she doesn't show her 15.5 years.

I rather like the German expression "Einbildung ist auch eine Bildung"  or literally "Imagination is also an education", used against conceited, arrogant, vain people. (Ein=one/on/in and Bildung= education). There is no direct translation, the nearest I have come to is "Such conceit knows no bounds". I rather like the expression I saw while searching for an English version "hermetic self-persuasion of righteousness".

All wonderful expressions for so many of our world leaders - Venezuela, USA, UK, Turkey, Russia....... I would rather have a cat or a dog anytime.
