Smoke and Climate Change

I decided I had to walk (slowly) to the top of the hill to take this picture today..it was mid day and fairly bright up there… Now, late afternoon, the wildfire smoke is even denser and we can hear fog horns from Trincomali Channel (in this shot..normally you can see to Vancouver Island)) but I can’t see any freighter or anything.   (Edit: our friends on their boat were out there and couldn’t see it either .. they could hear it and it’s on their radar screen!) There are no planes flying,..  so it’s otherwise eerily quiet.    No wind.   H wanted to cut a piece of plywood and had to use a hand saw, not an electric one.  There is a small hope of rain tomorrow.    Fingers crossed.
I’ve  read and also saw an interview with our NW weather guru (Cliff Moss) about whether this is the new norm and what to do.  And can we blame climate change.   They all say of course everything is so hot and dry, it burns easier, but 95% of the fires are started by humans one way or another, NOT global warming..    Any spark from anything,   Some are intentional.  Of course lightning, in the 5%.     The forests need to be managed better…thinned out (how is that going to happen?) and people need to not build communities too close to them (well, the growing population has to expand somewhere….)  and there are all sorts of safely guidelines being ignored. (human nature?)    It’s bad here for all the people who came “on vacation” but oh my, nothing like those places where the fires is burning homes and so many are being evacuated. I feel so bad for them.

This is an illustration action  mode turned BW.
How it usually looks ..esp. in the extra photo

Did you know there is a :”new” genre of literature  called ‘Cli Fi”   (Climate Fiction as in “Science fiction” ) that deals with climate change and global warming.   I’m reading a dystopia one about water in the future…scary… will report when I’m done,.
