Bournemouth Blooms & (Bird Vandals)

No idea what these are. But they are the most exquisite rich pink. Took this on the way down to Mad Cucumber (yummy Vegan restaurant in town), where we met with brother and sister-in-law, and another Costa repat. friend of theirs who lives nearby.

Day started sadly, read on Twitter ‘ITV Meridian’ that Bournemouth aviary was vandalised and some birds had escaped (some returned of their own accord).

Immediately worried about ‘my 2 parrots’ who I often chat to. Called the Bournemouth Echo to ask why they hadn’t written about it, together with a link to donate. They said they had - couldn’t find anything. Later got an email to say they are doing a special feature next week. And they have now reported on it, link below.

Well thankfully the parrots are safe and sound. So I can sleep at night. Turns out the vandals struck a few days ago.

They want to build a new aviary, but fund raising seems to have stalled at under half of what they need to raise. Perhaps this bad news will give the funds a fillip.

NB The birds are mainly rescues, so would not survive in the wild.
