Ship ahoy! Part III

Here is the third installment in my mini series of boats on dry land spotted whilst cycling around the Gironde.
This one is at le Phare de Richard, a few km further South from the other two.
This old boat, Le Breton, was used to transport pilots from land out to their ships moored in the estuary. It was built in 1971 and sold in 1983 and subsequently had several owners and uses, one of which was a small pleasure cruiser. In 2006 it was bought by l'association du Phare de Richard who restored it and placed it where it now stands.

As for the lighthouse (le phare) behind it, At only 18 metres tall, it was never very successful, and a taller metal one was erected behind it! This was dynamited in 1957 and only the foundations remain.
