Heading for the North Side

We had a bit of an impromtu party last night in our "hospitality suite", also known as room 118 - a hotel room with the bed remved and some sofas in it we have as a living room while we're here. I didn't get to bed until 3:30 this morning so I had a long lie and then did some work this afternoon. At about 5 I headed into Boston to meet some of the others.

We met up in "Cheers" bar at Quincy Market, which bears little resemblance to the bar from the TV show but was a pleasant place for a beer. We then headed up to the North Side which is also known as the Italian quarter. The walk took us across parkland on the site of the old interstate highway (which is now underground), which was beautifully illuminated with white and blue lights.

We walked right past brash establishements wit huge neon signs, and found a more modest premises with a promising menu. I think we chose well, as dinner was fantastic. The food at the Exec Ed center is pretty good, but it is served on a large scale and tends to avoid strong flavours. Tonights meal had no reservations on that front. Garlic, chesses, peppers, chilli, prosciutto... It was fabulous to eat a meal with such rich, layered flavours. Oh, and of course I had a lovely glass of wine to go with it, and some great company.

Now for an early night, as the Scotland game is at 10am our time and I we need to get to the pub by then!
