Stoneywell

We met our friends Liz and Genny in the car park of the National Trust property Stoneywell in Ulverscroft, Leicestershire.  The reason we met in the car park being that parking by the house is impossible so they run a shuttle bus from there to the car park.

Stoneycroft was designed and built in 1899 in the Arts and Crafts style and still has much of the original furniture and William Morris fabrics, most in the Arts and Crafts style. See Wikithing

There is a lovely garden, on various levels, the stones from the house being taken from the original plot.  We had a tour of the house before a spot of lunch then a walk round the gardens and attached woods. I took this photo of a pollen heavy bee with two protagonists approaching from the left on a thistle head in the kitchen garden (I don't know if they are protagonists, they just look like that!).

I've added a picture off the house in the extras.
