Bucharest

A lovely hot day again, and sunshine all day.

Up early, and the bus picked us up at 5am.  We headed north through Bulgaria, through traditional villages, and the further north we got, the more Soviet Union the town's and cities felt.  Crossed over the river Danube, and headed into Romania.   First stop was in Bucharest, we we got a guided walk around the cathedral, old churches, the palace, and various stops around the city.  Tonight we are staying in the town of Sinaia.  A beautiful place, and the hotel is amazing.  Off out again first thing in the morning.

I never thought I'd ever be in Romania, but here I am!  A beautiful country so far, and Bucharest is a beautiful city.  They call it Little Paris, which I can see, but also a lot of Soviet Union tower blocks everywhere, so it should also be called Little Moscow too!  As we walked around taking in the sights, poverty was around us too.  This poor old lady begging in the streets, and hundreds of tourists passing by without a thought.  I did leave her a few Bulgarian pennies, hope it helps her.  Taken in the Old Town, Bucharest.
