City Sunset

Another eight mile trek around London today, the main aim being to visit St Paul's Cathedral on its last Late Night opening session.  On these 'Lates' photography is allowed inside (it isn't normally) and, this year, the tower was open too. As you can imagine, I wasn't the only one hoping for a sunset view from the top of the dome.  The first level was OK but going up further meant queues and crowds (there isn't a great deal of space). This view towards the City was from the first level.

I also walked along some of Southbank from Waterloo to focus on the Brutalist Architecture along there with the National Theatre, Hayward Gallery and Queen Elizabeth Hall. My interest in this was sparked by Tate Modern which isn't 'Brutalist' but still has the raw concrete structures and textures.  I love the shapes and patterns generated in the concrete materials. And the Shard pops up everywhere - here with a strong contrast with the National Theatre.
