The last day of summer

Today is the last day of summer - tomorrow, being 1 September, it is officially the start of the autumn (unless you follow the equinox calendar). It is still sunny and T shirt weather and next week looks even warmer, so we may get an extended summer as we often do. Our garden is still full of colour and looks quite summery.

Back home after our wonderful holiday is a bit of a shock - back to supermarket shopping and thinking up meals to prepare (so boring having to think of what to cook for dinner)...today my shopping trolley was so overladen, I actually had to get a member of staff to help me with the unloading and packing at the check out. One of the best things about the holiday was that we had a free laundry service - every day it was collected and then at about 5pm that same day it was returned, all beautifully ironed and well presented - despite that I still had quite a few laundry loads to do today, and I was so grateful for that second washing machine - best decision ever!

I will try to catch up with journals, everything has been so busy lately that I have not had time - life should settle down to normal again now that we are home again.

Luke fetched Murdoch from his doggy holiday camp this morning, and he was very pleased to see everyone again - he has followed me around all day as he usually does. I then dropped him off at the station as he has gone up north to see his girlfriend for the weekend, as he has his knee operation on Tuesday and will not be very mobile for a while after that. Jenni arrived today and it was lovely to see her again.

And can someone please tell Theresa May to stop dancing her way through Africa, she looks ridiculous and it is so embarrassing!
