French Chateau

Another beautiful warm sunny day, and after leaving South Shields this morning we paid a visit to the Bowes Museum in the historic market town of Barnard Castle.   This magnificent building was built in the style of a French Chateau  in the 19th Century by wealthy businessman John Bowes and his French actress wife Josephine.  A truly stunning building, not what you expect to see in North Yorkshire.
