Sticking Around

Hanging in there on a branch before being pushed off with Poppy's nose, this female common darter posed! I was struck with how it's abdomen looked quite similar to bamboo and I rather liked it.

Driving down to the Forest of Dean I was hoping to see a lot more than I did and I was surprised as to how little there was flying even though it was warm today. There are supposed to be 22 species here and wandering round a lake in areas that earlier in the year must have been teeming with life there were a few damsels and darters but nothing desperately exciting. I think more sunshine was needed. Another time, another day. The darters will be around for a little time yet.
