Farming west of Edinburgh

No childminding today because the three year old is off on holiday with her mum and dad. So Cameraman and I took a train through to Edinburgh to walk a bit of the Union Canal. We intended to get the No 44 bus to Slateford and join the canal there but it was such a glorious day that we just headed up to Fountainbridge and the start of the canal. Walked west and stopped in Slateford anyway for coffee at the Water of Leith Visitor Centre. Then it was back onto the towpath and the walk to Ratho.

The canal goes through varied urban and rural parts. Most of the urban bits are really familiar to me. I took my blip looking back towards Edinburgh from beyond the city by-pass and nearer to Ratho. Blipping from the Bridge Inn (where I worked in the kitchen during the summer of 1975 ...) and where we have just had a massive late lunch of fish and chips and panna cotta. Waiting for the bus back to town and the train home.

A great walk but only half a Kiltwalk!
