Naturally

Loved this ad from an old newspaper; it's certainly true - wool is better than manmade fibres in so many ways (so long as it's not the scratchy variety that makes me itch!!). This was part of a montage on the wall of (another!) new cafe which consisted of old photos of the place before its latest incarnation. Originally it was built in the 1880s as a herring curing store, then it became a printing and stationery store, then a bit of decrepitude until it's current use as a cafe/restaurant/B&B. I loved the way the history was on display in such a clever and accessible way. I've put a 'before' and 'after' extra.

Dad and I went to another Science Festival lecture this morning. My grey matter found it hard, but still interesting, although Dad had trouble hearing the rapid American-accented delivery that was a bit mumbly. All about evolution and was it competitive or collaborative in nature (answer: both, although the latter is probably an accidental by-product). Apparently. Not sure I followed the whole argument, and of course, it was very Scientific ...

LH took Dad to the great computer shop here so that he could investigate getting a newer laptop without having to buy a pile of totally pointless programs he's never going to use (our experience with PC World). Seems like he's found what he was looking for plus the lovely helpful chap also is investigating a voice command app that will enable Dad to negotiate his computer a lot easier with his terrible eyesight. Fingers crossed.

I drew the long straw the afternoon; a chat with a good friend and then golf this evening before the rain started ... and back to a smidgen of sewing too :-)
