Marylebone

We stayed around Marylebone today before catching the evening train home. After breakfast at Pret we went to see the Wallace Collection, a museum full of art masterpieces and opulent furniture from the 15th to the 19th century, plus an armoury collection.  There is also a very nice atrium cafe where we had a drink.

From there we walked into Marylebone centre, an interesting town centre, different from the busy area of Marylebone Road, Madame Tussauds and the Planetarium. After lunch at Eat. we had a walk down Wigmore Street, then Wimpole Street, apparently Ringo had a flat at number 57, which he rented out to Paul McCartney and Jimi Hendrix, not both at the same time.  There was no blue plaque!

We carried on to Regents Park and visited their cafe for a cuppa before heading back to the station.

The main photo is of Hertford House in Manchester Square where the Wallace Collection is housed, the extra is the famous painting by Frans Hals of The Laughing Cavalier hanging in one of the galleries.
