Bächle
This one of many little streams running through Freiburg im Breisgau* and they are called Bächle - in German, a "bach" is a little stream.
The folk wisdom goes that if you step in one of these, you will marry a Freiburger.
My feet stayed dry.
We were in Freiburg for the weekend and I have to say, it was fabulous. It all looked a bit grey and damp as we arrived but we're not the sort to be put off by grey and damp.
We met up with I&A for a quick catch up (and a few of the local beer - Inselhopf) and then on to spend some time with the fab A (then a bit later with her family). A great evening.
We ended up walking back to the hotel at around 1 in the morning. The hotel we were staying in was in the Hexentalstrasse, which means (roughly) the street through the valley of witches. Very atmospheric as we hopped like frogs through the mist...
*Not to be confused with Freiburg im Üechtland, which is in Switzerland, or Fribourg, which is in France, or Freiburg in Schlesien, which is in Poland.
