The world through my eyes

Durres Amphitheatre, Albania

So today we ventured into the centre of Durres and visited the amphitheatre which was built in the beginning of the 2nd century A.D, in the period of Emperor Hadrian. The the abandonment of the amphitheatre in the 7th century A.D, it was transformed into a chapel. The amphitheatre was then rediscovered in 1966, and at the moment the excavation is focusing on the south-east part. Following this we walked along the sea front and had a lovely drink at a restaurant on the pier. We then walked back into the centre and went to the castle where we stopped for a drink. At our hotel we have met a lovely woman called Rita who has given us a few tips that are invaluable when trying to get around other countries.
