the sea

I love the sea. There is something primal about its energy, its sound, its smell. The crackling of waves rolling over pebbles as they retreat.
The white horses on a blowy day speak to me of untapped energy, of vibrancy, of endeavour and power.
We live as island people here in this place I call home and we give the sea a healthy respect.
It is interesting that in the last book of Christian scripture, the writer speaks of heaven as a place where there is no sea. Why? Because for those early Jewish people the sea was a place of fear and in heaven all fear is vanquished.
What do you fear? How can you face it and who would you need on that journey of self discovery? Only love can conquer fear as the two cannot exist in the same space. Maybe your love can set someone free?
