Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

By NannaK

On the road. Day 2

80 miles an hour for many miles in Utah ( and Idaho before this). It was hazy ( and a bit Smokey?) early on and then got bluer..— it’s such a huge expanse, lots of sagebrush, and some farms...( we were told in the coffee shop in Jerome, ID, that the area has more dairy farms than Wisconsin) 20000 years ago there was a gigantic (20000 sq. Miles) lake , the largest in NA, here ... now Salt Lake and 2 other remnants are all that’s left, after it finally overflowed into the Snake river and this area became drier. And oh my, the traffic from Salt Lake City to Provo on this route was a terrible jolt....if we have a choice we’ll never be here again. Stopped earlyish in Provo, intending to have a walk ( H has new boots he’s testing). Enuf sitting in the car. It was so hot and sunny, we soon decided enuf of that, it was time to eat dinner and perhaps after we’d get in the car for a mini tour of Provo. Well, after dinner we changed our minds and just needed some stretch out relax time. Realizing we are now at 4500 ft, it explains our tired attitudes a little ....we’re used to sea level and need some time to adjust! Another driving day tomorrow and we’re headed southeast.... sort of where this WILDFIRE is!!!( extra, near our motel, first seen as we got close to Provo now early evening) Thought we’d escaped them, but no... this was caused by lightning and burned more than was expected. 2nd extra made me chuckle..on the road...
