Sky Jewels

Not the greatest photo ever - but I am always astounded by the vastness of space and the array of stars that can be seen when there is no other light around to drown them out. This was taken from our front yard in Arnold, Ca, around 10PM. We are at 3,000 feet and that elevation cleans up a lot of grunge in the atmosphere to make viewing even more spectacular. This is one of those time that I was for a longer lens - maybe something I will break down to get in the future, but for most of the things I photograph, my lens that extends to 200mm works just fine. Just not so good for moon shots and star scapes at night.
