Or Goodbye to the Old Girls.
I knew that the last Sea Kings would be doing their final fly past today but I didn't know that they would come directly over our house so I didn't have my camera handy. I also didn't know that they would come past again a few minutes later so I wasn't much better prepared. I did grab my phone though and got a pic before they got too far away. These last military Sea King Mk 7s will retire at the end of the month after being in service for 50 years.
I was lucky enough to have a much closer encounter last November when we had one landing on the village green to visit our primary school.
At over 9 tonnes loaded it's a big beast and fits nicely into the 'Metal' which is the subject for today's Wideangle Wednesday challenge hosted today by steveng.
I noticed also on stevengs journal a link to freespirals journal which has some sad news regarding Tim (SarumStroller). Rather than repeating it here I'll leave you to check it out yourself.
