Digging

An application of lawn feed/moss and weed killer this spring resulted in a large area of dead, blackened lawn as this patch was mainly moss.  Then a long, hot dry summer did further damage to the rest of the lawn.

I am no gardener, but I have read up about re-seeding bare patches and it is clear that I need to loosen the dense, hard packed clay soil before seeding and adding new topsoil.  I am tackling the worst part of the lawn and we'll see how I get on. At least it can't end up looking worse that it was before.
