I should be used to this after a summer spent visiting various Hebridean islands...but didn't really expect ferry disruption in Greece.

There have been gusty winds upturning dinghies and swaying yachts in the bay. The tavernas have all moved their tables indoors. And ferries are being cancelled.

We are due to fly back to London from Athens tomorrow night so need to get across to the mainland in the morning. Maybe, like Theseus, we will take the overland route around the Saronic Gulf. For us, this means a 5 minute ferry and then a long bus journey. For Theseus, it was a wee bit more exciting...

PS I wondered about the cricket stumps..research shows that this is a replica of the weather vane at Lord's. Apparently the rules of cricket state that "After the call of Time, the bails shall be removed from both wickets."
