Orford Ness

A beautiful warm and sunny day. And it was a trip to Orford Ness today. It's now in the hands of the National Trust, but was once owned by the Ministry of Defence, where secret military testing was conducted during both the world wars and the cold war. It's now a national nature reserve.

It's the strangest nature reserve I've ever visited. It's a shingle spit accessed via a short ferry. You're only allowed to walk along specific routes, due to the nature of the previous military usage and to protect this fragile habitat. But it was fascinating!
