Verity’s Book , Major Tom’s War

So dark in the mornings now so it’s still dark when I get up.Seems ages before the sun comes up and it’s soon disappearing.
One of our neighbours has bought some land next to his house and had some top soil to get rid of, ideal as we needed some to fill a ‘pit’.So this afternoon a dumper truck bought up a few loads and Mike’s been busy with the wheelbarrow taking it round the back.
We had an early dinner and then headed to Dingwall to a book launch by Verity Walker who we know through various things including the Beach Cafe and Kirkmichael.
It has taken her around 10 years to write a novel based on her Grandfather and Grandmothers experiences in the 1st World war.The story sounds fascinating with lots of twist and turns. You can find out more here

Verity brought along a few pieces that belonged to her family including the huge diary filled with letters, postcards and drawings and a pair of spectacles worn by her Grandfather. The glasses were handed round so that we could all look through them. Incredible to think of their age and what they might have seen, mind you he had pretty bad eye sight so must have had a job seeing anything in detail.
Home before dark, just !
