Pecan Hunters

There is a grove of ancient pecan trees near the music department where Little Man has his piano lessons. We arrived a bit early today, and spent some time searching for the precious loot. Alas, it seems others have been there before us, as we found just a few beautiful and tasty nuts. The hunt was the best part, anyway.

"Pecans are not cheap, my hons. In fact, in the South, the street value of shelled pecans just before holiday baking season is roughly that of crack cocaine. Do not confuse the two. It is almost impossible to make a decent crack cocaine tassie, I am told."

- Celia Rivenbark, You Can't Drink All Day If You Don't Start in the Morning

PS. Pecan tassies are itty bitty pecan tarts, a Southern specialty.
