Glorious Mud

We went for a walk along the Alde estuary today, continuing on to Snape Warren, a lovely area of heathland. The tide was out so vast glistening mudflats were exposed and were covered in waders feeding on the rich bounty - Redshanks, Curlew, Dunlin, Little Egrets but mainly Godwits - hundreds of them. The wind was bitterly cold and for the first time this Autumn, I wished I'd taken gloves with me.
