Báisteach

Pronounced as Baw-eesh-tiock, Báisteach is the Irish word for what you can see clearly here today. Rain, that is. What I didn't tell you yesterday was that the bright sunshine of the middle part of the day didn't last very long. Raindrops were beginning to fall as I got into the car to travel home from work and they haven't ceased since. Torrents for more than 24 hours and a gale which did a lot of damage in the garden during the night. Our Peruvian Potato Plant, now over 2 metres high was blown flat to the ground along with the trellis it grows on. Luckily the main stem was not broken so I expect it will survive. A local horse race meet has been abandoned after 23mm of rain fell on the course overnight. That's just a smidgin under an inch for the non metric folk out there.
I really do get fed up looking at the rain you know!
