This is one of my favourite places.

Our holiday in Dorset is over and we have travelled back to Cambridgeshire today. It is our little tradition to stop somewhere on our journey for lunch and a leg stretch. Whenever we go down to Dorset it is usually Avebury that we visit on the return journey. The weather there today was perfect, bright and sunny but not too warm, just right for a walk around the circle which is larger than you might expect.

With a little patience I was able to take this and some other photos without other people in the frame...

The extra is a photo of what has to be the most photographed set of tree roots in the United Kingdom, possibly the World. These three Beech trees are growing on the ramparts of the henge that surrounds the stone circle.
