Au revoir Mailhac, à bientôt  (I hope)

An early start to clear and secure the house. Sorry to leave Mailhac but it was such a lovely morning to say our goodbyes. This magnificent horse chestnut tree has been dropping its enormous conkers on the roof of the covered terrace - giving us a fright every time.

Our friends drove the three of us on the Edinburgh flight to Carcassonne before heading back east to Avignon for another couple of nights. Tiny airport, helpful staff, flight on time and early into Edinburgh. Quick trip to Haymarket and onto the 2:39 train. Not quite the TGV of last weekend but it did the job and we're home. The temperature is many degrees cooler than in the Aude but the trees look every bit as colourful in the gorgeous autumn sunshine.

We've had such a great week in a beautiful area. So much to see - I really do hope it's haste ye back/à bientôt .
