Mono Monday : : Seasonal

Fall is the time of year when the acorns, well, fall. We have several kinds of oak trees and they all have acorns (except the California Live Oaks)  but it is certainly a bumper year for the largest ones which fall with a report like gunshot on the deck and the roof of the porch. I do like their jaunty little caps and even the lichen covered branches. It's been quite windy here and there is no shortage of any of these, er, fallen leaves and ball bearing like acorns on the ground. I liked the way the light fell on the little collection in to photo.

The weather is certainly not seasonal, although it is eerily similar to what it was a year ago...86 degrees, very dry with a hot wind. I think, however that they have taken down the red flag fire warnings so we may not wake up in the night smelling smoke....

Fed up with the news which is either about our disastrous government or the disastrous fires that started here a year ago today,  I am concentrating on making tomato sauce and pesto with produce picked from the garden....
