We remember poets

I've always been proud to live in a country that has a poet as one of its national heroes. We certainly have a warlike past and a strong military tradition but the fact that Robert Burns is so revered tells us that there's more to Scotland than martial glory.

We do have other great poets though.

This sculpture, familiar to those who know Perth, is a celebration of Perth born William Soutar, who, like Robert Burns, also died too young and sadly spent the last 13 years of his life bed-ridden.

The sculpture is located right in the middle of Perth High St. Despite that and despite taking the picture at lunchtime it was all too easy to do so without any extraneous shoppers in view. The recession bites the High St.
