Flammulina velutipes

Flammulina velutipes, (synonym: Collybia velupites) is a mushroom that is common in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Characteristics
The velvet paw usually grows in groups of several mushrooms. The fungus is saprotrophic and lives on trunks and stumps of deciduous trees such as elm, alder and willow. It is a typical winter mushroom found from November to March. The often smooth and slimy hat is 2-10 cm wide and has a honey-yellow to red-brown color. The stem is often velvety dark brown to olive black from the base, but lighter under the hat. It is 3-8 cm long. The slats are white to pale yellow, the spores are white.
