Chrysanthemum (synonym: Dendranthema) is a genus from the composites family (Asteraceae or Compositae).

The name is a composition of the Ancient Greek words χρυσός (chrusos), gold and ἄνθεμον (anthemon), flower.
There are many cultivars that can be obtained from the florist as 'chrysanthemum'.
